Week 1: The "am I in the right place?" phase
The first week at NIAT Jaipur felt like someone handed me a puzzle with no box. Orientation, new faces everywhere, schedules that looked more like spreadsheets — it was a lot.
But here's what no one tells you — everyone else is just as lost. That shared confusion? It becomes your first bonding experience. My batch WhatsApp group went from 0 to 247 unread messages in 48 hours. Mostly "guys where is the lab?" and "what's the dress code tomorrow?"
Pro tip: Save the campus map on your phone. Trust me on this one.
Week 2: Settling in (kind of)
By the second week, I had a routine — sort of. I knew which chai stall opened earliest, I had a desk I silently claimed in the lab, and I'd made about three friends who'd stuck around. The coursework started picking up pace and the trainers made it clear this wasn't going to be a slow ride.
The energy here is different. People are actually building things, not just reading about them. That was the moment it clicked for me — this place is serious, but in a good way.
Week 3 & 4: From surviving to actually thriving
By week three, I stopped counting days. I was too busy. Projects, peer learning sessions, random 11pm "bhai ek cheez samjha" calls — it became a whole lifestyle. I gave my first internal presentation, completely bombed the intro, then somehow recovered and got a solid response. Growth, I guess.
What genuinely surprised me: how much your batchmates push you. I've learned more from late-night study sessions with friends than I could've imagined. NIAT gives you the structure, but your people give you the momentum.
Don't try to do it alone. The person sitting next to you probably has the exact answer you've been googling for 20 minutes.
So, was it worth it?
100%. The first 30 days were messy, intense, sometimes overwhelming — but they were also some of the most energizing days I've had. You'll find your rhythm, your people, and your reason to keep going. Just give it time.
If you're just starting out: welcome to the chaos. You're exactly where you need to be. 💙
