After a brutal week of classes and assignments, I've learned that the best thing you can do for yourself is just step out of campus and breathe. At NIAT Yenepoya University in Mangalore, I've found two places that completely reset my head when college life gets too much: Tannir Bhavi Beach and Kadri Park. They're different vibes, but both save me every single weekend.
Tannir Bhavi Beach: Where I Lose Track of Time
I've lost count of how many times I've been to Tannir Bhavi. Honestly, I go there when I need to remember why I even came to Mangalore. The sound of the waves alone changes something in your head--there's no assignment stress, no exam pressure, just the cool breeze and the wide shoreline.
The sunsets are what get me every time. The sky turns this slow orange, and you see groups of people just sitting there, walking along the shore, or talking with friends. It's not fancy. It's just real. Most weekends we end up there with a couple of friends, music, conversations, and just sitting by the water. That's it. That's the whole thing. And somehow it's enough.
Kadri Park: The Greenery Reset
Kadri Park is a completely different energy. It's full of greenery, quiet, and the kind of calm you don't get in the hostel. People come for evening walks, jogging, or just to sit and do nothing. I come because my head needs green around it sometimes.
The small food street nearby is the best part. You can walk around, grab something quick, and just chill. It's not crowded like campus, and nobody's asking you about project deadlines or exam prep.
These two places became my answer to the question every NIAT student asks on Friday: how do I actually survive this week?
The thing about being at NIAT Yenepoya is that you're in Mangalore, and Mangalore has these pockets of peace that are literally 20-30 minutes away. Once I found them, I realized I wasn't trapped on campus. I could leave. I could breathe. I could come back ready for the next week.
