Career & Wins

My NIAT NSRIT Wins: A Chess Title and Gen AI Club Responsibility

Two experiences stand out when I think about my growth at NIAT × NSRIT: winning the college Chess Tournament and serving as Finance Head of the Gen AI Club. One tested my concentration across the chessboard; the other taught me about responsibility within a team.

What Winning the Chess Tournament Meant to Me

The tournament challenged my strategic thinking, patience and decision-making. Winning was a proud moment, but it also reminded me of the effort behind a result.

That experience helped me see achievement beyond academic performance. Competitions, sports and club activities can reveal abilities that do not appear in an exam score.

Taking Responsibility in the Gen AI Club

As Finance Head, I managed resources, coordinated activities and worked closely with other club members. The role gave me a way to contribute beyond regular classes.

Working with a team strengthened my organizational, leadership and communication skills. Having responsibilities also made the experience feel more concrete: other people depended on the work being done.

Looking at Career Growth More Broadly

My account of campus opportunities includes workshops, projects, internships, hackathons, certification programmes and placement training. These are part of a broader picture of preparation, alongside the everyday practice of collaborating and taking initiative.

For me, growth is also reflected in smaller achievements: accepting a challenge, learning through competition or becoming more confident in a role.

The Wins I Carry Forward

The chess title and my club responsibilities mattered in different ways. Together, they helped me understand that preparing for a career involves developing patience, judgement, teamwork and confidence as well as technical knowledge. Those are the parts of these wins I want to keep building on.
