I went to ZPH High School, Andhapuram thinking I would take a session, teach something useful and come back. Simple plan. Yeah… that did not quite happen 😄
“Don’t Call Me Sir”
When I entered, the students stood up and said, “Good morning sir!” My immediate response was, “Don’t call me sir… call me anna or bro.”
That changed the atmosphere. They relaxed, I relaxed, and the room began to feel more like a conversation than a formal lesson.
Then came the age question. Without thinking, I said I was 30. My actual age was 18. Some believed me; others clearly did not. One student looked as though he was running a background check.
Questions From More Than 100 Students
The group included students from classes 7 and 9—more than 100 in total. I had expected some hesitation, but every question drew an answer. Sometimes it drew everyone’s answer at once.
I kept asking questions, letting them guess and allowing interruptions. The session became a back-and-forth of reactions, answers and laughter, with learning happening between them. Managing that much energy was part of the experience.
The Suno Demonstration I Will Remember
I decided to demonstrate generating a song with AI using Suno. In my head, it was going to be something cool.
What appeared was a full love song.
For a moment, the class went quiet. Then everyone started laughing, teasing friends and pointing across the room. I stood there thinking, “Nice… great decision, Goutham.”
What the Students Taught Me
Their interest stood out. They were asking, reacting and answering rather than waiting for the session to end. Talking naturally and inviting them into the discussion worked better for me than trying to deliver a formal lecture.
Would I Go Back?
Absolutely. I left thinking about their questions and the energy in the room as much as what I had taught. Next time, though, I am choosing the song topic very carefully.
