NIAT Teaching Program @ ZPH High School, Andhapuram – A Day as “Sir” 😄 — image 1
I went to ZPH High School, Andhapuram thinking I’d just take a session and come back.
Simple plan. Teach something useful, finish the class, done.
Yeah… that didn’t happen 😄
“Don’t call me sir…”
The moment I entered, all the students stood up and said,
“Good morning sir!”
I don’t know why, but instantly I said,
“Don’t call me sir… call me anna or bro.”
That one line changed the whole atmosphere.
They relaxed. I relaxed. It stopped feeling like a strict classroom and started feeling like a conversation.
The age question 😂
Within a few minutes, one student asked,
“Anna… what is your age?”
And without thinking, I said,
“30.”
Actual age: 18 😄
The expressions in the class were priceless.
Some believed it. Some didn’t. One guy kept staring at me like he was doing background verification.
The class itself
There were students from 7th and 9th class—around 100+ in total.
And honestly, I expected at least some silence or hesitation.
But no.
Every question I asked → someone answered
Sometimes → everyone answered at once
At one point, it felt less like teaching and more like managing a mini crowd 😅
Teaching… or just talking?
I didn’t want to just explain things and leave.
So I kept asking them questions, making them guess, letting them interrupt.
And they were fully into it.
There was no “boring lecture” moment.
It was just back-and-forth, reactions, random answers, laughter… and somehow learning was happening in between.
The unexpected moment 🎶
Then I thought,
“Let’s show something fun.”
I opened Suno and said I’ll generate a song using AI.
In my head, I imagined something cool.
But what got generated?
A full love song 😭
For a second, the class was silent.
Then suddenly… full laughter.
Students started teasing each other, pointing at friends, smiling like they just discovered something illegal.
I just stood there thinking,
“Nice… great decision, Goutham.” 😂
What stood out
Even with all the noise and chaos, one thing was clear:
They were genuinely interested.
No one was forced to sit quietly.
No one looked bored.
They were reacting, asking, answering… fully present.
And that’s not something you see everywhere.
My takeaway
I went there thinking I’ll teach them something.
But I ended up realizing something instead:
School students don’t need complicated teaching.
They just need someone who talks to them normally.
They’re curious.
They’re honest.
And if they like something, they show it immediately.
Ending thought
By the time I left, I wasn’t thinking about what I taught.
I was thinking about:
The questions they asked
The energy in the room
And that one love song incident I wish I could undo 😄
If I get another chance to go back?
I wouldn’t even think twice.
But yeah…
next time, I’m choosing the song topic very carefully.
